Scomber scombrus
Never growing over 50cm. Mackerel are a typical school fish, always on the move. In fact if they were to stop for any length of time it would kill them. Like most sharks they need a constant flow of water running through their gills. During the winter they migrate out into the North Sea and in summer they turn towards the coast in search of food. Their prey's follows the warmer summer currents in to the fjord and are chased by millions of mackerel. As the summers months draw on fishermen all over Norway are fishing this aggressive sports fish.
