Melanogrammus aeglefinus
A member of the cod family. Spawning in 100-150 meters in the spring. Here
in Norway they spawn around the island of Senja. They grow fast and with in
2 years they are up to 30cm.
Maximum weight of 14kg but 10 kg examples is not that common. As an eating
fish they are fantastic but don't forget to clean them well and eat them
fresh. They like warmer salty water, best fished with hand lines and bait.
